This is a place we've waited sometime to visit and it was a dream come true to find it. It's one of the very few places that actually provide traditional Belizean dishes and right in the heart of Chicago. The real treat here is the Hudut Baruru, but also consider the King Fish, delicious Oxtail Stew and Empanadas that never disappoint. When in Chicago, 99.9% of folks always head straight for the Deep Dish Pizza spots, but the real treat and satisfying spots are the diverse cuisines found in the city such as Garifuna Flava. Without question, it is Chicago's #1 Caribbean restaurant and also in our opinion, one of it's best kept secrets. Why not explore the taste of Belize without having to travel across the Ocean.. it's truly as if you were there. Plenty of other great dining choices here include their Stewed Chicken, Spicy Jerk Chicken, perfect Rice and Beans, Fried Ripe Plantains, Cabbage so many Vegan options here as well. Portions are just perfect, enough to fill you but always leaving room for some dessert. One thing we have to highlight is that there is plenty of flavor and lots of seasoning which is what Caribbean cuisine is famous for in part. But it's done to perfection and make each dish unique from the rest. Atmosphere and staff here are very nice and hospitable, we appreciate that long last art.
