With over 55 years in the business, the one thing Gord has become famous for are his burgers. Ask him yourself and you'll find out that he hasn't changed a single thing about the recipe or process, and we're glad of that. Also try the Onion Rings or Gordy's Fresh Homemade Chili as those tend to always be some of his most popular side dishes. This counter-serve diner has been family-run from the start when it opened up in the year 1960. The term American Classics has been thrown around for so long, it's hard to actually come across a place that offers it properly. No modern place can meet the standards of this style of cuisine from the USA. The only spots to find it are those that have stood the test of the time, such as Gordy's Hi-Hat. They simply do what they have always done and there is no need to change it. With so many other restaurants in the are trying to constantly re-invent themselves or find new cuisines to satisfy the masses with, these folks just stay true to the basics. It works, and works well. Not many folks have even heard of Cloquet or know where it even sits on the map - but once you visit and eat at this diner, you'll never ever forget. In to their 60th season of service, it's such a treat to visit and truly experience walking back in history when food was real, made from scratch with real ingredients and served with a genuine smile. We're thanks full for Gordy and Marilyn Lundquist whom had the vision to start this place and continue making it the success it is to this very day. A no frills spot that serves out fabulous hamburgers, enough said.
