When you stop by this diner you should expect to get some great local Southern based classics, as well as the best selection of Hot Dogs as far as we're concerned. If you're not in the mood for a Hot Dog, then we really encourage you to get deep in to the Chicken and Dumpling Soup which is an excellent alternative here and truly filing. In addition, the classic Sub Sandwiches offered here rock and the famous BBQ options are also good choices for those meat lovers around the world. Harvey's Hot Dogs in Portsmouth are a staple visit when you are nearby and have always been a favorite of ours over the many years of travel following Guy's footsteps in the Flavortown world. However, as we must report from time to time, it's with sadness we share that Harvey's Hot Dogs has closed for business. It's rare to find a spot where generations gather over the years, making a weekend spot a tradition with family. The Hot Dogs here were always superb and the staff was truly incredible for the entire experience. It had an old-school diner setup that made you feel welcome, something which big chain alternatives hardly offer. Another favorite here was always the Blueberry Bread Pudding.. we can taste it right now just thinking about it. This spot will surely be missed, we hope a worthy alternative rises from the ashes.
