Located right in the middle of New York City, this classic diner has most of the menu from homemade recipes that aim to please every time. The two biggest items on the menu are probably the secret recipe based Deep Fried Chicken with all the fixings. We also think the freshly made Peach Cobbler makes for a great dessert, no matter what meal you decide on. At Mama's Food Shop, the portions are always big and from your very first dining experience here, you will be impressed beyond belief. NYC has plenty of amazing spot to dine at, but it's these small Ma and Pa style shops that make the dining scene here shine and stay quite unique from the rest of the country. To put it simply, straight comfort food in a cool environment with more than generous portions. Who could ask for more right? Well perhaps it was too good to be true as Mama's Food Shop has recently permanently closed, from what we've been told. This truly breaks out heart as this was always our go-to stop for Fried Chicken when in New York City. it's truly hard to find a spot that prepares such down-home-stick-to-your-ribs kind of delicious, if you know what we mean. Sides here were also to die for such as their Collard Greens, Mashed Potatoes, Beets and of course the best side-kick ever, Southern Style Mac 'n Cheese! Another hole-in-the-wall style restaurant that has disappeared, but rest assured fellow foodie lovers - we're always on the hunt for the next best kept dining secret in NYC!
