Watch episode 'Blast From the Past' in season 7
Locations Guy Fieri visits in the USA - Places to eat comfort home-style, healthy, gourmet & fast food meals!
Back in the early 1940's, this diner had plenty of items on the menu for a nickel - but don't expect the
same prices today. But, what you can depend on is the same great classic food choices to choose from in this
restored joint. The Fried Catfish is great and so is the original Mac and Cheese meal here, but to be quite
Frank, the entire menu will knock your socks off. We love that they have kept the vintage style and feel
which sets it apart from today's modern alternatives. The old-school comfort foods here are made with love
from scratch - just like they were over half a century ago. They are open everyday except Mondays from eight
in the mornings to three in the afternoon. Amazing, fresh and filling breakfast served here with some of the
best coffee you've ever come across. Lunch and brunch options here are also tasty and good to the last bite.
However, we must be honest and admit that our personal motivation to coming here when in Los Angeles is
their insanely delicious desserts menu. The home-made donuts and home-made cakes here will outdo any bakery
in the country. In addition to their pudding and Pop-Tarts, you seriously need to grab a dozen or two home.
Our personal favorites include the Maple Glazed Bacon Donut, Peanut Butter Potato Chip Cake and of course,
we can't forget the Blueberry Orange Pop-Tarts. Don't pass this place up.. sometimes we think it's too good
to be true - pinch us!
